Reuse layout with Symbols

In the Designer, you can turn an element or a group of elements (layout) into a symbol. Then reuse it on any page within the project. When you update a symbol, other copies are also being updated.

This document will show you how to:

  1. Create a symbol
  2. Use and search for symbols
  3. Remove a symbol

Create a symbol

To create a symbol in the Designer, select any element on the page (including a container with its children), then:

  1. When the Toolbar appears, click on the more option
  2. Choose Create symbol from the menu
  3. Enter the symbol name, then click on the green check button to complete
  4. Done. Your new symbol should be available in the Symbol tab from the Insert Searchbox

Use and search for symbols

All symbols are available in the Symbol tab from the Insert Searchbox. You can drag and insert them as inserting any other elements

To search for a symbol, from the Insert Searchbox, enter /s {name} (replace {name} with your symbol name).

Remove a symbol

You can remove a symbol from the Insert Searchbox. Here are how to do it in the Designer

  1. Navigate to the Insert Searchbox. Then choose the Symbol tab or search for the symbol
  2. Hover your mouse to the symbol, then click on the 3 dots button
  3. Choose Remove to remove the symbol

Note that when removing a symbol, its copies will disappear but won't automatically be removed. You can either leave as it is, remove them beforehand, or remove them from the layer Tab from the Designer Panel.

Now you know how to create a symbol, search, insert a symbol, and how to remove a symbol.
